"Dearly Beloved"

The Playhouse of Wilson kicked off the 2006-2007season with a southern comedy centered around a completely dysfunctional but lovable Texas family who gather together to throw an antebellum-inspired wedding with a surprise potluck reception sponsored by Clovis Sanford's House of Meat.

The Highway patrolman races off to track down the runaway bride and groom, while the sisters ultimately pull together to find ways to keep the unsuspecting guests in the pews.  Jeff Creech directed the production.  Jamie Wooten, who is originally from Fremont, was present on opening night along with Jones and Hope, who are both Texans.

“Dearly Beloved” is a Southern comedy about an antebellum-inspired wedding that’s truly gone awry, with a reception catered by Clovis Sanford’s House of Meat and a bride and groom who disappear just at the moment they should be exchanging their vows.

This production by Playhouse was the eastern N.C. premiere of the play.

“Dearly Beloved” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, the first of a trilogy of plays, had its debut in Asheville last November.
