The three Verdeen cousins – Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette could not have picked a worse time to throw their family reunion. Gaynelle is one frazzled nerve away from a spectacular meltdown after “accidentally” crashing her minivan through the bedroom wall of her husband’s girlfriend’s doublewide. Peaches, a saucy firebrand and the number one mortuarial cosmetologist in the tri-county area, is struggling to decide if it’s time to have her long-absent trucker husband declared dead. And Jimmie Wyvette, the rough-around-the-edges store manager of Whatley’s Western Wear, is resorting to extreme measures to outmaneuver a priss-pot neighbor for the affections of Sweetgum’s newest widower. But the cousins can’t back out of the reunion now. It’s on and Gaynelle’s hosting it; Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette have decided its success is the perfect way to prove Gaynelle’s sanity to a skeptical court-appointed psychologist. Things spin hilariously out of control when a neighbor’s pet devours everything edible. You’ll wish your own family reunions were this much fun! |

During WWII, six women gather at the church to roll bandages and plan the church's 75th anniversary. Overseeing things is Edith, the pastor's wise-cracking wife who dispenses Red Cross smocks and witty repartee to Luby, whose son is fighting in the Pacific; Mae Ellen, the church's rebellious organist who wants to quit but hasn't the courage; Olene, who dreams of a career in Hollywood; Sammy, a shy newcomer with a secret; and Vera, an influential Baptist with a secret of her own. When Luby learns her son has been wounded, she confounds the others by blaming the vulnerable Sammy. With humor and pathos, these six very different women find comfort, forgiveness and redemption in each other. |

“A Grand Night” made its debut in New York City in 1993, where it was presented cabaret-style. A refreshing approach to many well-known and some more obscure Rodgers and Hammerstein songs, this musical revue abounds with taste and imagination. Featuring songs from hits like Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific, Cinderella and The Sound of music. The music of Rogers and Hammerstein sparkles throughout this production. “A Grand Night” is a choreographed musical showcase of tunes, as opposed to a musical with a story to tell. Divided into two acts, the first focused on “young love” and the second on “married/star-crossed love.” A musical for all generations to enjoy. |
